| William Thomas Carr |
William T. (Bill) Carr was born to Mary and Patrick Carr of Indianapolis, IN in 1928. Bill went to Cathedral and Broad Ripple High School and soon went to work for Allisons, a division of General Motors in Indianapolis where he worked for the rest of his life. Bill married his sweet heart Dottie Schmutte in May of 1950 in a double wedding with Dottie's sister Patricia. Bill and Dottie lived on the eastside of Indy until 1962 when they then moved to a much needed larger home on the northside.
Bill was a wonderful loving husband to Dottie and a great father to his children. As a husband, Bill was always there for Dottie. He seldom did anything for himself. Dottie and the kids were always included in whatever he did. As a father, Bill was very kind, generous and was a great provider. He was always concerned with Dottie and the kids safety. He was often called "Safety Sam" by Dottie and the kids due to his constant concern that someone was going to "break their neck". Bill always enjoyed being around friends and family and would often have parties in his basement around the custom bar that he built.
Bill was a very good athlete growing up, playing baseball and tennis. In his later years, he became a good bowler while bowling in leagues at work and with the Knights of Columbus. He also picked up golf and played it for fun in several leagues. In addition to athletics, Bill was very handy and became quite the carpenter over the years. He was always working on projects like finishing a basement, building cabinets, etc... One of Bills favorite sayings when saying good bye to someone was "We'll sues ya later" with a hint of an Irish accent.
The Lord called Billy home much too early, as he passed away in March of 1985 at the young age of 57. While he is dearly missed by everyone that knew him, Billy can be seen in each of his children and grandchildren as they try to live their lives as he did. Billy, "We'll sues ya later".
